Pubs in Bishops Castle - The Castle Hotel Bars
The visitor to BishopsCastle is spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing his ale. Bishops Castle (population 1600) is blessed with two breweries in the town itself, and several more within a few short miles. And at The Castle we make sure to stock a representative sample of these for your delectation. The town itself hosts a fantastic beer festival each year, when out come the marquees and barbecues, and joy is in the air.
We’re not just lovers of the amber brew however, we also keep an extensive wine cellar, albeit would be a lie to tell you we are blessed with a plethora of local vineyards. (Well there are one or two actually).
The Castle Hotel is also a local country pub in Shropshire and has three bar areas, each of which has either a log burner or open fire in the cooler months. All the bar areas can also be used for dining in Bishops Castle.
Beers on offer favour local breweries, such as Big Nevs, a micro brewery located in the town and Hobsons from Cleobury Mortimer. We have been listed by The Good Pub Guide for the last 15 years now!
The bar areas range from a cosy wood panelled room to the recently extended old public bar area which is light and airy and also contains a Bar Billiards Table and selection of other pub games such as Dominoes. This bar area also leads to a pleasant paved terrace area that leads on to the fantastic beer garden.
Here you can settle down at sunset with a drink and some food and scour the surrounding hills for invading horders, just like the old Bishop Of Hereford, the first inhabitant of The Castle at Bishops Castle.
